Bayern Munich's James Rodríguez: "If I have to go, I will"

The Colombian has accepted that his position at the Bundesliga giants is likely not to be in his hands, and that he may be moving on after this season.

James Rodríguez has again spoken out about his future and is clear that it may lie away from Bayern Munich following the end of his loan spell from Real Madrid.

James prepared to leave Munich

Speaking during the traditional visits by players to the Bayern supporters clubs, James admitted that things had changed since the summer.

"The situation is, of course, completely different compared to last year. With the new coaching team I am not playing that much anymore.

Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez upon joining Bayern Munich.

"I can not make any promises. If I have to go because I am not playing, then I'll go. I would like to stay, because I feel the love of the fans, both here and within the whole Bayern family."

As it stands, it is the Bundesliga club that has the power in this decision. The German champions, struggling to meet their usual dominant levels this season, ensured the right to pay for the full transfer of the Colombian midfielder when the two-year loan period expired. This can be triggered no matter what parent company Real Madrid or the player desires.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has said that he'd prefer to discuss that decision in 2019. Rumours abound including connections to Juventus to rejoin with former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
