Butragueño: "Leganés have already shown us what they're capable of"
Real Madrid's Director of Institutional Realtions: "When results aren't good, that's when you need unity in the team. That's the only way to get out of a bad situation".
Real Madrid's Director de Institucional Relations Emilio Butragueño gave his thoughts on today's Copa del Rey Last 16 draw which pitted Santiago Solari's team against Leganés - the side who eliminated Los Blancos at the quarter final stage of the tournament last season.
Repeat of last season's quarter final: "Of course last year's meeting doesn't bring many good memories for us - especially since we lost at the Bernabéu. This time we'll be playing the first leg at home. We know what these Cup ties are all about and that they are very evenly-fought. The first leg will be played just after Christmas and will meet Villarreal on the 3rd - a few days before. So we're in for a busy month. I'm sure Leganés will make things difficult for us".
'Pepinazo' at the Bernabéu
Madrid's pride hurt in Cup defeat: "That wasn't one of our best nights. It was a very tough match but we hope this time will be different".
Would you have preferred to have met one of the big clubs? "The draw turned out the way it did and we accept it. We could have drawn Atlético, Barcelona or Sevilla - top level sides who are competing in Europe. But Leganés have already shown us what they are capable of. We'll need to produce our best level to make the next round".
Call for unity
The fans need to get behind the team: "Madrid have won a lot of trophies and unity is the fundamental element in doing that and moving forward. The fans must always be present and when results aren't coming our way is when we need to be more united than ever. That's how we will get out of this situation. It's a normal to go through in football, it has happened in every era. Now we need to remain calm and have belief in the players".
