Luka Modrid gave an interview to Real Madrid's official website ahead of their opening match in the World Club Cup on Wednesday.
In an interview published on Real Madrid’s official website on Monday, Luka Modric admitted that the team were going through some "difficult moments", but stressed that at other times they have "known how to come through them". And he is hopeful that they can finish the year on a high by winning their third consecutive Club World Cup.
"It's a very important challenge for us," said the Ballon d’Or winner. "What this team has, and has shown many times, is quality and character, despite the difficult times and the problems we encountered along the way. We have always known how to come through them.”
Modric believes he and his team mates are "ready" to re-conquer the Club World Cup, which starts on Wednesday for Real Madrid against Kashima Antlers.
Modric eager to finish year in the "best way possible"
"We want to finish this year, which has been perfect, in the best way possible," he added.
"As we have won the Champions League three times in a row, we want to do the same with the Club World Cup, it is always important for Real Madrid to win titles and we want to achieve it for the third time in a row.
"For me it is always important to help the team in the best way possible possible, I do not obsess over the individual issue. The important thing is how we are going to play as a team, face this challenge and win the title.”
After the whistling by some members of the home crowd at the Bernabéu on Saturday at the end of the 1-0 win against Rayo Vallecano, Modric ended the interview by appealing to Madrid fans for their continued support during these difficult moments for the club.
"This team needs your support, we have always shown that we will fight to the end to get the title, we will give everything on the field to be successful in the future,” he concluded.
