The Real Madrid striker is in his second season on loan with Rayo Vallecano and has leapfrogged Gareth Bale in the league scoring charts this season.
Real Madrid loanee Raúl de Tomás bagged the last LaLiga goal of 2018 last night as his Rayo Vallecano side secured a badly needed win and three points as they saw off Levante in the Vallecas fog. With his second half winner on Sunday, De Tomas has now found the target more times this season than Welsh striker Gareth Bale, in the season when much hope was deposited in the the Welsh player to step-up following the summer departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 24-year-old Rayo forward bagged his fifth league goal in 1,113 minutes of playing time which equates to a goal every 222.6 minutes. He's found the net in games for Rayo against Alavés, Espanyol, Getafe, Villarreal and in last nights game against Levante and is the most active striker for the Vallecas based side in front of goal since 2011/12 with eight shots in the current campaign.
Gareth Bale has been on target four times in the 2018/19 LaLiga season in 1,050 minutes of playing time which equates to a strike rate of one goal per 262,5 minutes of action. The Welshman was at his most prolific in the early stages of the campaign, bagging against Getafe, Girona and Leganés and only found his fourth of the campaign in match-day 15 away to Huesca as part of 0-1 win.
