Club América star Diego Lainezhas often been compared with Leo Messi but Piet de Visser, the Dutch scout who discovered Ronaldo and Romario, believes that nobody can compare with the Argentinean superstar.

With Lainez being regularly linked with a move to Ajax, there are no shortage of opinions about how far the highly rated 18-year-old striker, who has already been capped by Mexico, can go. However, De Visser warned that Lainez cannot be compared to Messi but added that he will have no problems succeeding in the Eredivisie if the Ajax move takes place.

"I've seen them all, the new 'Messis'. And the real one, when he was 13 years old. At that level these guys cannot compare, there is no one to compare with him. A player like Messi is born once in a lifetime", explained Visser in an interview for 'NOS'.

Lainez "a super talent"

However, De Visser lauded the talent of the brightest propsect to emerge in Mexico this generation, noting he is impressed with the qualities of Lainez and urging Ajax to make a move as soon as possible.

"He's a super talent. A player with a lot of technique and speed, with many qualities and possibilities. It's still a bit playful, not so strong and he has to be more effective. He can play on th eleft or right or through the middle, although he's more of a dribbler," De Visser said.
