Atlético's Jan Oblak flirts with a move to the Premier League
The goalkeeper regarded by many as the best in the world has been speaking about interest from other clubs, and his Atlético attachment.
Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has spoken about the interest of other clubs in him but says that staying in the Spanish capital is the best way for him to continue winning trophies.
Oblak the great
The Slovenian number one spoke to FourFourTwo magazine for their February edition at a time when he and his club are looking to extend his contract in Spain and why he is happy in the Spanish capital.
“I can’t talk too much about [why a move to Chelsea didn’t materialise], but I said in the summer that I’d prefer to stay.
“I didn’t speak with any clubs – my agent and the people at Atlético do those things. I decided to stay as I saw a good project here, and I believe the best way I can win titles is by staying."
The 6ft 2in stopper did not, however, close the door to a potential future away from the Wanda Metropolitano.
“But in the future, everything is possible," he said. "In football, things change from one day to another so it’s impossible to say you’re going to be somewhere for many years, because you don’t know. January is here, June is there. Things can change so fast.
Premier League in the stars
And the English Premier League could be a part of that future...
“The Premier League is interesting. It’s attractive and at some stage I may want to be part of that competition. I can see myself there, but I don’t know when – maybe next year, in two years, five or 10.”
Oblak you big tease.
