Solari's chances of getting back to winning ways in LaLiga will not be helped by the long list of injuries and suspensions for Sunday's trip to Betis.
Real Madrid will have to travel lightly to Seville for their clash with Betis on Sunday, as the club has reported that that all six players currently side-lined through injury are still recovering and will remain unavailable to coach Santiago Solari.
Meanwhile, Vinicius had to bow out of Friday’s training session because of flu. And while his illness should not prevent him from playing on Sunday, it could affect his performance at a time when the Brazilian has been at the top of his game and one of Solari’s most impactful players.
Kroos, Asensio, Llorente, Bale, Courtois and Mariano will continue with their respective recoveries and will not be on the flight to Seville. Although Mariano did participate in part of Friday’s session with the group, Solari will not risk bringing him back in for Sunday’s game.
Lucas Vázquez suspended
Aside from the six injured players, Lucas Vázquez will also miss the game through suspension for the red card he picked up against Real Sociedad last week. With Solari extremely light on numbers, the Argentine coach called up Cristo González from Castilla (the ‘B’ team) to participate in Friday’s training session with the first team squad ahead of the Betis clash.
After a 2-2 draw with Villarreal and 2-0 defeat to Sociedad so far in 2019, the pressure will be on Solari to get back to winning ways in LaLiga at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
However, with the long injury list and the chance of an under-performing Vinicius due to flu, a win against Betis – who have already taken the scalp of Barcelona at Camp Nou and lie just one place behind Madrid in sixth – will be far from an easy task for Solari and his players.
