Real Madrid: No more January signings expected at LaLiga club

AS understands that, barring a majorly damaging defeat between now and the end of the month, Real Madrid won't be bringing anyone else in.

Real Madrid are not expecting to make any more signings this January, AS understands. After weighing up several potential winter-window options, the club have decided that, following the 15-million-euro capture of Brahim Díaz from Manchester City, no further additions to the squad are necessary.

Real Madrid opt against signing a striker

Madrid had been considering bringing in a centre-forward, and had identified a number of possible targets, such as Genoa's Krzysztof Piatek, RB Leipzig's Timo Werner and Inter Milan's Mauro Icardi. However, the emergence of Vinicius, coupled with Karim Benzema's availability to play despite breaking a finger, has persuaded Los Blancos to stick with what they've got until the summer.

Luca Zidane to replace Kiko Casilla as third-choice keeper

Rather than signing a replacement for third-choice goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, who departed for English Championship club Leeds United this week, Madrid will fill the void by promoting Castilla's Luca Zidane back to a role that he also performed under his father, Zinedine, last season.

Damaging result the only thing likely to change plans

The only circumstance that could prompt an about-turn in Madrid's decision not to dip into the market is if the side suffer a particularly damaging defeat between now and the end of the window. Otherwise, the only deal that could be done this month is the end-of-season signing of Porto defender Eder Militao.
