Sánchez Flores: "Madrid asked after me when I was managing Valencia"

The new Shanghai Senhua told El Transistor on Onda Cero that it the opportunity arose, it would be a real challenge to manage Real Madrid and they wanted him once.

Quique Sánchez Flores is about to take up his role as the manager of Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua. The former Atlético Madrid, Valencia, Watford and Espanyol manager spoke to El Transistor on Onda Cero about his new adventure and recalled Real Madrid wanting to sign him when he was managing Valencia.

Chosing to manage in China: "China wasn't my priority but it has climbed up the list on my sporting strategy: for the last four years they have wanted to sign me."

Surprised by the squad: "Shanghai Shenhua is a team with a lot of potential, they are relatively young but with a lot of talent. I am very surprised with the technical level of the players too."

The ability to repeat concepts from Europe: "The Chinese players are really good at repitition but sometimes they can't assimilate everything."

Training Real Madrid: "If the opportunity came about, training Real Madrid would be a real challenge."

Did the opportunity ever arrive: "Madrid asked about me when I was training Valencia."
