Top-ranked bridge player banned for failed drugs test

World number one bridge player Geir Helgemo has been given a one-year ban for failing a drugs test.

The Norwegian tested positive for female fertility drug Clomifene and synthetic Testosterone during a World Bridge Series event in Orlando last year.
Helgemo, who plays for Monaco, accepted that he committed an anti-doping violation and will be suspended until 20 November.
The 49-year-old - described as Norway's biggest bridge star - has been stripped of medals, awards and masterpoints won at the 2018 Rosenblum Cup and all other World Bridge Series results last year.
He has also been ordered to pay costs of €3659.
