Footage released by Vamos de Movistar appears to show the Juve striker launching the insult at Atlético fans during the Juve-Atléti game on Tuesday night.
After scoring a hat trick for Juventus to secure their 3-2 aggregate victory over Atlético Madrid in the Champions League second leg last-16 tie on Tuesday night, ex-Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo was revelling in revenge over his old rivals.
Atlético began the game with a comfortable two-nil cushion from the first leg but were torn asunder by Juventus, whose Portuguese talisman netted his eighth Champions League hat-trick and 25th career goal against Los Rojiblancos.
Revenge was extra sweet for Ronaldo following two incidents at the Wanda Metropolitano in the first leg that particularly vexed the ex-Madrid striker.
First were the Atlético Madrid fans’ chants of “Ronaldo, hijo de puta (son of a bitch)” throughout the game. The second incident involved Atlético coach Diego Simeone, whose “big balls” celebration after Maria Giménez’s opening goal drew the outrage of Juventus for being a gesture of the utmost disrespect – a gesture for which Simeone later apologized.
Simeone's gesture ultimately came back to haunt him after the final whistle in Turin on Tuesday night when a jubilant Ronaldo mimicked his big balls celebrations, clearly showing how much he was revelling in getting one over the Argentine coach.
And since footage of his celebration has gone viral, Spanish TV channel Vamos de Movistar has released more footage from the game which appears to show Ronaldo also attempting to get his own back on Atlético fans after scoring his third goal.
In the footage, the Juve striker is seen approaching the section of Atlético fans in the Juventus Stadium, whom he appears to call “hijos de puta” (sons of bitches), presumably in retaliation for the taunting he had been subjected to at the Wanda three weeks ago.
As it stands, it is unknown if Ronaldo could face some sort of disciplinary action by Uefa should it be deemed he had directed the insult at the Atlético fans.
