Benfica ready to fight off Real Madrid's approach for Joao Félix

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético, Juve, Manchester City all want him, but the Portuguese side are desperate to hold onto the forward and are looking to bump his buy-out clause.

Benfica are already working hard to keep their 19 year-old rising star Joao Félix. The forward is one of this season's revelation's in Europe and many of the continent's biggest sides are eagerly eyeing him up.

Benfica looking to increase Joao Félix's buy-out clause

That's why Benfica are looking to boost the buy-out clause of 'Hurricane' Joao Félix from its current 120 million euros. The club are already in talks with the player, as revealed by their president Luis Felipe Vieira: "We're not interested in selling him, and soon, we're going to increase his buy-out clause". According to this newspaper's sources the new clause will be set at 200 million.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético, Juventus, Manchester City... just some of the names following the situation with interest. What's more, the Old Lady and the English side have already started making moves to bring him in.

Juventus indicated to Benfica at the end of February their intention to pay Félix's current buy-out clause, at a meeting between the Italian side's sporting director Fabio Paratici and Luis Felipe Vieira, in Turin.

Manchester City meanwhile have also instructed their transfer team to start work on a bid for the striker. The club's sporting director Txiki Begiristain was in the Estadio Da Luz on 14 March to watch the striker in action against Dynamo Zagreb. After that match, according to British tabloid The Sun, City were all set to pay the 120 million buy-out clause.

There are still several months of competition to go before the summer transfer window opens, and everything indicates Benfica will continue to put the player's price up in line with his performances. An increased buy-out clause will make a possible move to Real Madrid more difficult, as Florentino Pérez wants to spend this summer, but with a focus on players who have already proved themselves at the very top for longer than Félix...
