April 13 in 1996 is marked in the history of Los Angeles Galaxy, as their first game in the MLS, played in front of 69,255 fans in the Rose Bowl Stadium. It also became one of the games with the highest attendences in MLS history.

LA Galaxy's  first rivals were the New York MetroStars, now known as NY Red Bulls, who were defeated 2-1 by the Los Angeles squad. Goals from Cobi Jones, author of the first goal in LA Galaxy history and Arash Noamouz were enough to see off the MetroStars' challenge.

The Galaxy remember that day on their social media accounts and celebrate their path in the American League, where they have been "Happy since96."

"It was like the memories of the World Cup; I saw the opening to the right, Hurtado gave me a good pass. I took a touch and cut in front of the defender, I was going to get over it, or I felt like I would be knocked down inside the arena, I got over it." were the words of Cobi Jones that night.

LA Galaxy are one of the ten founding clubs of the Major League Soccer; they played in the Rose Bowl stadium until 2003 when they moved to Dignity Health Sports Park.

They are the team with most MLS titles with five, and along with D.C. United, are the only American team to have won a CONCACAF Champions Cup.
