Romain Alessandrini was injured during the game between LA Galaxy and Houston Dynamo on April 26. The LA team announced on Friday that the French winger has undergone knee surgery and will be out until September.

Alessandrini tore his meniscus, and needed a procedure called meniscus root repair, which will have him out of action for several months as this kind of method requires a more extended healing period than other meniscus surgeries. It does, however, offer a complete recovery.

Despite the lengthy recovery process, LA Galaxy ruled out the possibility of placing Alessandrini on the season-ending injury list, something that would mean the end of the 2019 season for the Frenchman, but would free up a spot in the squad. This option was ruled out by GM, Dennis te Kloese.

LA Galaxy's scenario

The regular season of the tournament ends on October 10th, which likely leaves Alessandrini with only six games to play, unless the LA squad managed to reach the playoffs. In this case, it would give him more playing time in the club's quest for the 2019 MLS title.
