Ex-referee Eduardo Iturralde González says Rayo's match-winning penalty against Real Madrid should not have been awarded.
Relegation-threatened Rayo Vallecano should not have been awarded their match-winning penalty in Sunday's LaLiga clash with Real Madrid, says AS' resident referee, former FIFA official Eduardo Iturralde González.
Vallejo deemed to have fouled Guerra in penalty box
Adri Embarba converted from the spot to earn Rayo a precious three points when Madrid's Jesús Vallejo was adjudged - after a VAR review - to have fouled Javi Guerra in the area midway through the first half at Vallecas.
Vallejo didn't do enough to be penalised - Iturralde
"I think he [Vallejo] grabs hold of his [Guerra's] shirt, but not enough to stop him from running," Iturralde told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
"And when he feels the shirt pull, he goes down. What you can't do is hold on to him [the attacking player] and stop him from advancing.
"But in my book, this incident is just part and parcel of the game."
