Ugly scenes have been shared by fans as some Reds supporters abuse locals and turn the square into a tip, amid reports of arrests for assault.
On the eve of a mouth-watering Champions League tie for Liverpool against Barcelona in Camp Nou, travelling fans have been filmed pushing locals into a fountain and making a mess in the centre of the city. There are also reports of arrests being made for assault on hotel workers. As always, the minority spoiling it for the rest.
Liverpool fans tarnish club image
This Liverpool fan is a disgrace to humanity. Disgusting to watch. Not funny or banter at all, this is just plain stupid. pic.twitter.com/VoFoaDBQ2I— 360Sources (@360Sources) 30 April 2019
The disturbing footage of the fans in Placa Reial, a tourist hotspot in the centre of the Catalan capital, emerged on Tuesday evening. In two particular incidents, a Reds supporter can be seen lifting a man selling beers into the water and another being pushed hard from the edge of fountain, completely submerging him. Surrounding fans cheered and laughed. The images also make it clear just how much rubbish was being left in the public area, normally a lovely meeting spot for tourists and locals alike.
Other reports have stated that at the nearby hotel, six Liverpool fans have been arrested by police, after four workers were allegedly assaulted, resulting in medical attention being required. More disturbances included objects being thrown at local police, although some travelling fans have claimed that there had been some 'over reaction' from the enforcement officers.

Vile behaviour and not what the club is about at all.
Think @LFC should attempt to take this further, he doesn’t represent our fan base.
This is the scene as Liverpool FC fans are marched up La Rambla by police. Just heard one fan turn to his son and say "it's just sad" pic.twitter.com/PsLrpf5I62— Emilia Bona (@emiliabonaECHO) 30 April 2019
Embarrassing for actual Liverpool football fans, sadly it’s these idiots that give other fans a clouded view on our club, what goes through people’s heads??? https://t.co/jlacwZMssO— El (@ElliotThomas2) 1 May 2019

As the news of these actions broke across social media, fellow Liverpool fans were quick to condemn them, several calling for the club to punish those involved swiftly.
We proudly sing that we’ve conquered all of Europe. But let’s treat this beautiful city with the respect that it deserves, and act in a manner that is befitting of LFC. By all means have a good time, but we are Liverpool, and as such, let’s visit here with grace and humility.— Peter Moore (@PeterMooreLFC) 1 May 2019
And the Premier League club themselves sent out a message via Peter Moore, their CEO, asking for fans to 'treat this beautiful city with the respect that it deserves'. That was followed by a statement from the club in which they said: 'Such behaviour is clearly totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated.'
Jürgen Klopp will take his Liverpool team into Camp Nou this evening as they aim to reach a second consecutive Champions League final.
