Liverpool fans are anxiously awaiting confirmation that their star striker will be available to play Barcelona at Ansfield Tuesday.

Mohamed Salah "will be fine" according to team mate Dejan Lovren, who took to Instagram to give an update on the status of his Egyptian team mate.

Salah was carried off in a stretcher in Liverpool’s game against Newcastle at St James’ Park on Saturday, after suffering a head injury due to a heavy collision with Magpies goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Salah had scored Liverpool’s second goal in the 27th minute to give the Reds a 2-1 lead, before Newcastle striker Rondon levelled the scoring again after the break. But the Reds title hopes were kept alive thanks to Salah's replacement Divock Origi, who scored with his head in the dying minutes to give the visitors a 3-2 victory.

Liverpool fans are now anxiously awaiting to know if their star striker will be available to play Barcelona at Anfield on Tuesday, where the Reds are looking to overturn Barcelona’s 3-0 lead from the first leg.

And on Sunday Lovren attempted to ease the minds of supporters in an Instagram message. "Yes he is okay. (He) just can't remember who I am. Don't worry he will be fine, Mo is a monster," said the defender in response to a question from a concerned fan.

Klopp: "Salah ok but we have to wait"

Following the game on Saturday night, Jurgen Klopp also stated that Salah "was ok" but they would have to wait on the results of a medical assessment.

"What I heard, he got the hip of the goalie on his head," Klopp said in the post-match conference.

"He was then on the ground and the doc had to make a decision 'on the pitch or off the pitch', and the decision was off the pitch. We accept that of course.

"When we came in he was sitting in the dressing room watching the game on television. So he was then fine, but of course we have to wait. He got a proper knock, obviously, in that situation."

Firmino out for Barcelona clash

As Liverpool fans wait for confirmation regarding Salah, it has been confirmed that his striker partner Firmino is definitely not available to face Barcelona.

The Brazilian was not in the squad for the Newcastle clash and is also a doubt for Liverpool's last Premier League game against Wolves next Sunday, Klopp confirmed.

"He will not be ready for Tuesday and the rest [of the season] we will see," said Klopp, whose side will be hoping that title rivals Manchester City slip up against Leicster on Monday before their clash with Barcelona on Tuesday.
