Current MLS champions, Atlanta United haven't had the best start to the new season after losing coach Gerardo Martino and struggling to adapt to Frank de Boer's style of play. But The Five Stripes' seem to have found the spark they've been looking for.

Ezequiel Barco has put in some impressive performances with Atlanta United, and against Sporting KC he was nominated for MLS Player of the week after scoring one and setting up another in the 3-0 win this weekend.

Barco saw his 39th minute effort blocked by SPK goalkeeper, Tim Melia, but team mate Josef Martínez raced on to knock in the rebound to open the scoring. In the second half, Barco doubled the lead with a shot from distance. He set up Josef's second goal after a counter-attack in the 76th minute to put the seal on Atlanta United's third win which places them just one point below the play-off places in the Eastern Conference.

It's the second time Barco has been elected MLS Player of the Week this season; he and LAFC captain, Carlos Vela are the only two players to have won multiple POW awards in 2019.

The 20-year-old player has now equalled his 2018 total of four goals;  'The Five Stripes' have won all of the three games where Barco has scored. Barco will join Argentina's Under-20s  for the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup which starts on 23 May.
