MANCHESTER UNITED

Eight players Man United could bring in this summer

Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli)

The Napoli center back is seen as an ideal option to strengthen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s weak defence. And according to talkSport journalist Andy Goldstein, United are close to reaching a deal for the Senegalese international.

Update:

Idrissa Gueye (Everton)

Another Senegalese international who has been linked with Old Trafford is Everton’s Idrissa Gueye. According to the Daily Mail, the Merseyside club will demand around £40 million for the midfielder, who United may view as a fitting replacement for PSG-bound Ander Herrera. Although the Red Devils will face competition from the same Parisian club to sign the 29-year-old.

Nicolo Barella (Cagliari)

Described by Italian football agent Giovanni Branchini as similar to Paul Scholes, Nicolo Barella has been linked with Man United, Chelsea, Inter and Juventus. The 22-year-old spoke recently on Italian radio about his love for English football, while admitting he knew nothing about an Inter deal.

Update:

Nicolas Pepe (Lille)

Jose Mourinho hasn't had many good things to say about United since his sacking, but the Portuguese coach has approved of the club’s move for Lille’s 23-year-old winger Nicolas Pepe, whom he has described as a “quality player in the making”. The Red Devils are reported to have opened talks with Lille for the Ivorian international.

Update:

Declan Rice (West Ham)

Another prospective Herrera replacement is 20-year-old Declan Rice, who is understood to be high on Solskjaer’s wish list. West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini has admitted he was unsure if Rice would remain at the club beyond the summer. And there are several clubs interested in signing the midfielder after his impressive breakthrough season at the London Stadium.

Update:

Jadon Sancho (Dortmund)

Like Rice, Jadon Sancho is another fresh-faced England international who has garnered much attention following an impressive season. The Dortmund midfielder was reportedly close to agreeing a move to Old Trafford before United failed to qualify for the Champions League. He is now understood to be in favour of staying in Germany, although United are still keen to convince him.

Update:

Daniel James (Swansea)

Swansea’s Daniel James is another player of interest to United. According to the Evening Standard, Solskjaer is hopeful on closing a deal for the winger as soon as possible, amid fears they will be unlikely to convince Sancho this season. United would reportedly have to pay between £15-20million for the 21-year-old Championship player.

Update:

Bruno Fernandes (Sporting Lisbon)

Reports from Portugal claim Solskjaer is demanding the signing of Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes, who has scored 32 goals this season and is also a target of City. It is understood Sporting will look for about £60 million for the midfielder. “Bruno is a great player," the United boss has said of the 24-year-old. "He has made a fantastic season with many goals, many assists that are not normal for a player of his position.”
