The Women's World Cup is just around the corner, and Megan Rapinoe maintains her protest against the administration of current US president, Donald Trump. The US women's national team striker decided not to sing the national anthem before recent matches, saying it's a way to make visible USA problems.

In an interview for Yahoo Sports, the captain of the Bars and Stripes squad announced that she would take her protest to France World Cup; "I'll probably never put my hand on my heart again, I'll probably never sing the national anthem again," Rapinoe said.

Megan also mentioned feeling like a walking protest, which is a challenge itself just being her while wearing the USWNT shirt too. "My talent took me here; you can't tell me if I can or cannot be here, to say "fuck you" to any form of inequality that the administration may have towards people who don't precisely resemble him. Which, God help us if we all look like him. It's scary, scary, and disturbing," she added.

Rapinoe was the first white woman to stand in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, who protested against racial violence and oppression of minorities, by kneeling during the national anthem during games.

Inspiration in Kaepernick

"Colin Kaepernick inspired me a lot and inspired an entire nation, and still does, the way he talked about it so clearly, in fact, he didn't try to convince anyone, just like this is what is happening, and this is what I am willing to do about it," she concluded.
