The US youngster compares himself to the Belgian star after arriving at Stamford Bridge from Dortmund, looking forward to helping the Blues any way he can.
Christian Pulisic was officially presented as a Chelsea player on Tuesday. Having been signed in a 73-million-dollar deal during the winter transfer window, the US international has now made the switch to Stamford Bridge following the conclusion of Borussia Dortmund's season.
Pulisic talked to Sky Sports about his upcoming challenge with the Premier League club, saying he believes he has all the right qualities to be as good as Eden Hazard has been for the Blues, with the Belgian's future still uncertain amid interest from Real Madrid.
The American is considered to be a long-term replacement for Hazard, and Pulisic feels he can fill Hazard's shoes. "Of course, I want to believe that I can be the best player I can possibly be, that's why I work so hard every day and why I thought it was necessary for me to take this next step in my career and to come here. I have so much more to learn as a player and am excited to see what the future holds."
Pulisic is viewed as Hazard's replacement at Chelsea, with the 20-year-old predominantly playing on the right side last season, though sometimes he also played also on the left side. If the Belgian does leave, there is a high chance of an opening in the Blues frontline, but with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Pedro, it might be on the left wing.
The American youngster talked about this. "It's a great compliment to be compared to Hazard, he is an unbelievable player. I guess I have a similar style with an attacking and creative mindset like he does, he's very quick and shifty. There's a lot to learn from him. It would be a great goal to do what he does. Everyone can see he is an unbelievable player."
For the time being, Pulisic is thrilled to be in England and able to speak English, and to be a part of the Premier League, which has been one of his biggest dreams.
