Dani Carvajal has "no fear" about Sergio Ramos leaving Real Madrid, but says that the club captain, his agent and Florentino Peréz "must clarify" about his future.
Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has spoken about the possibility of club captain Sergio Ramos’ move to China, saying that it is something about which Ramos, his agent and president Florentino Peréz “must clarify”.
Ramos and Carvajal have been defensive partners at the Bernabéu for six seasons, since the latter, a Madrid academy graduate, made a return to the club after one season at Bayer Leverkusen in 2013-14.
But that partnership could now come to the end, according to reports on Monday claiming that Ramos has asked for a move to China after 14 years with Los Blancos.
And Carvajal, who will join up with the rest of his Spain team mates for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifying fixtures against Faroe Islands and Sweden in June, gave his take on the Ramos-China reports when quizzed by reporters at a PR event in Madrid on Tuesday.
Carvajal would be “delighted” for Ramos to stay
“What is normal is that Ramos receives offers and it’s logical that many clubs want to have his services,” said the 27-year-old. “But the president and he have to clear it up. I would be delighted to have him [at Real Madrid] next year again.”
When asked if he feared “a Madrid without Ramos”, Carvajal answered: “No fear, each one [Ramos, his agent and Peréz] must clarify [about the China move]. Ramos is our captain. That word already defines him.”
Pressed further on the matter and asked if he sees Ramos playing in China, the Madrid full-back replied by deflecting attention to Spain’s upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
“I will see him on Monday in Las Rozas (Spain’s training camp in Madrid), that is what is important, that he helps us to win the games with the national team,” he said.

Carvajal on Hazard: “He’s world class”
While talk of Ramos leaving Madrid has surfaced, Eden Hazard has been hotly tipped to be one of the incoming players at the Bernabéu this summer.
The Chelsea star is top of Madrid’s agenda as they look to rebuild after a disappointing 2018-19 campaign, along with Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.
And Carvajal believes Hazard would play an important role in coach Zinedine Zidane’s new project next season if he makes the mooted switch to the LaLiga giants.
“He’s a great player; that is everyone’s view,” said the Spaniard. “If he comes and is a team mate of ours, I’m sure that he will help us. He’s world class.”
