Week 13 of the MLS left us with some pretty good showdowns between East and West, with the latter coming out on top with six wins and one draw. LA Galaxy, Timbers, Earthquakes all earned victories on the road, while Los Angeles FC, Colorado Rapids, and Real Salt Lake won at home, with Vancouver held by NY Red Bulls at the lone midweek game on Wednesday.

West dominating the league

After 13 weeks of the 2019 season, the Supporters' Shield standings suggest the Western Conference is the more dominant of the two - much of that is due to the figures of table toppers LAFC. Seattle and Galaxy are second and third, with four of the top six and five of the top eight in the standings are from the West.

Chris Wondolowski's new record

Wondo continues to make headlines, after breaking the MLS all-time scoring record last week with four goals against the Fire, the Quakes striker took another record from Landon Donovan, as he moved past Captain America for the most game-winning goals in the league's history. Wondolowski also reached a total of 150 regular season goals and is one of only four players in MLS history to have scored six goals in two games.

Carlos Vela closing on MLS record

The LAFC captain, Carlitos Vela is setting the pace for this season's MVP while also being in the running to break Josef Martínez' goals record set in 2018. Vela has 15 goals in 15 games matching his total from last year. If he continues at this rate, he could end the season around the 34-goal mark, so he's already on course to break Martínez's record.

Colorado Rapids second win

The Rapids secured a 3-2 victory over Columbus Crew with a dramatic 89th minute penalty, to earn their second win in a row for the first time since August last year and the first one at home this year. Conor Casey's arrival has brought the team stability. Colorado have scored in all of their last four games since Casey took charge.

Minnesota United home streak

Minnesota scored a 1-0 win over Houston Dynamo at Allianz Field, to earned their sixth straight home win since the opening of the stadium on 13 April.

Rooney saves DC United

DC United were made to suffer as guests of the New England Revs at Gillette Stadium, despite NE Revolution losing goalkeeper Matt Turner, who was involved in a brutal collision with DC United captain, Wayne Rooney, which earned him a straight red card.

However, things did go well for Rooney's side - the striker had to save the day from from the penalty spot as it ended 1-1 - a result that puts DC United top of the Eastern Conference on 25 points.
