Klopp: "I lost six finals and my family suffered more than me"

The Liverpool manager was left speechless after winning the Champions League on Saturday night over Spurs as he got emotional on the field thinking of his family.

Jurgen Klopp was interviewed on the field after his Liverpool side defeated Spurs in the Champions League final with goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi in either half.

The German suffered during his time with Borussia Dortmund and with Liverpool, losing six finals during his career. He was asked in the build-up to the game if he had bad luck but said he didn't feel unlucky during his time in management.

"This happened," he said when asked who he was thinking of after the game and the historic win. "I lost all the finals I played in until now and I am thinking about my family because they suffered a lot more than I did."

He was hoping to change his record on Saturday night and while it was rarely, if ever, pretty, they achieved the objective and brought back the Champions League trophy to Merseyside for the first time since 2005.

"It was very intense," he said about the game. "But we won, we won with two goals. This is for all of these people, I'm speechless."
