The owner of the French club and president of Qatar Sports Investments is progressing the operation for the Championship side.

The plan by investment group Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) to buy Leeds United is still on track. According to the newspaper Le Parisien, the president of QSI and owner of PSG, Nasser Al Khelaifi, has met in Doha with the owner of the English club, Andrea Radrizzani.

Leeds to join PSG family?

Radrizzani, a 44-year-old Italian, is an entrepreneur who amassed his fortune through global broadcasting, and both men have known each other for several years, according to the French media. Following Leeds' defeat in the promotion play-off for the Premier League, the Italian decided to sell the team and negotiations have advanced to such a point that an agreement could be close.

This is not the first attempt by QSI to expand its business beyond that of Ligue 1 giants PSG, with them looking at potentially buying AS Roma. There has been significant investment over recent years in the English game, which has seen Manchester City taken over by a group from Abu Dhabi, and Newcastle United expected to be passed into the hands of the cousin of City's owner.
