Doubts still shroud Mauro Icardi's future at Inter
The Argentine's future is still shrouded with uncertainty after Antonio Conte taking over as new Inter coach and rumours that Lukaku is poised to arrive.
Question marks still remain over Mauro Icardi's future as an Inter Milan player. It was felt that by many Serie A observers that the arrival of Antonio Conte on the 'nerazzurri' bench, that Icardi's days in the famous black and blue stripes would be numbered.
La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Milanese club have targeted Manchester United's Romelu Lukaku as their number one striker for the 2019-20 season but Icardi will need to make way for the Belgian, an issue made more complex by the player's agent and partner Wanda Nara and her tense relationship with the club's management and fans.
Icardi spent much of the 2018-19 season in dispute with former Inter boss Luciano Spalletii who went as far as stripping the forward of the captains armband and sidelining the Argentinean for a series of games. Reports in Italy also linked Icardi in a swap move with Juventus' with Paolo Dybala moving the other way but that deal appears to have not come to fruition. A busy summer ahead for Wanda Nara with Icardi's status also being dented by Argentine boss Lionel Scaloni failing to call the player for the forthcoming Copa America.
