The Premier League has released the fixture list for the 2019/20 season, with new boys Norwich facing a stern challenge against Liverpool on the opening day.
The Premier League has announced the fixtures for the upcoming 2019/20 campaign.
The season kicks on the evening of Friday, 9 August with Liverpool hosting newly promoted Norwich City at Anfield, as the Canaries face a tough welcome to life in the top division with an away fixture against the European Champions.
The other new boys, Aston Villa, also face a stern opening week test against last season’s Champions League runners’ up Tottenham on the Saturday (10 August); while Sheffield United have an arguably easier fixture away to Bournemouth on the same day.
Manchester United vs Chelsea (11 August)
After the bulk of fixtures are played on Saturday, 10 August, Sunday sees the mouth-watering encounter between Manchester United and Europa League winners Chelsea.
As the visitors begin the first season of the post-Hazard era, Blues supporters will be hoping new signing Christian Pulisic will begin to show the potential to fill the Belgian’s huge boots at Old Trafford.
Match week two sees Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City host Tottenham on August 17, Liverpool face Arsenal a week later on August 24; while on August 31, the Gunners welcome Spurs to the Emirates for the North London Derby.
City vs United (7 December); Liverpool v City (9 November)
The 2019/20 season’s first Manchester derby between City and United will take place at the Etihad on December 7, with the corresponding Old Trafford tie coming on 7 March, 2020.
Meanwhile, the first meeting between last year’s runaway Champions and runners up, Manchester City and Liverpool, will take place at Anfield on 9 November.
That match will round off a run of tough fixtures for the Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, who will face Manchester United (19 October) and Tottenham (26 October) in the match weeks prior to the visit of the Guardiola’s side.
