Chile keeper Christiane Endler is regarded as among the best in the world and anointed as such by USA great Hope Solo.
Update:
England full back Lucy Bronze, who also plays for European heavyweights Lyon, has twice been named PFA Women's Players' Player of the Year and has won the Champions League twice.
Update:
Goal-scoring defender Wendie Renard captains Lyon and France and has bagged three goals already at the 2019 World Cup. She has also won a staggering 13 league titles and six Champions Leagues.
Update:
PSG defender Irene Paredes has been capped 63 times by Spain and like Renard knows where the back of the net is. The Basque defender helped Athletic to the Liga title in 2015-16 and is a key part of the Spain national side at the World Cup.
Update:
Chelsea's Magdalena Eriksson gets the nod at left back due to her versatility and experience, and her set-piece skills, which are handy in a side like Sweden's who tend to have a height advantage over their rivals. If Sweden go through to the quarters, she will pick up her 50th cap for her country.
Update:
Dzsenifer Marozsan is another Lyon player with huge experience and provides a link between midfield and the front line. She is the youngest Bundesliga debutant of all time, playing her first game at 15, and now at 27 has won basically everything there is to win in the game.
Update:
Le Sommer is the star of the France side and he work rate, skill on the front foot and crossing ability, not to mention her goals tally, would make her an obvious choice for a Madrid Galácticas project.
Update:
Marta needs no introduction and will squeeze into the midfield for our purposes as she plays in a largely free role for Brazil. A global icon, she is the all-time top scorer at both the men's and women's World Cup and has said on several occasions she would like to play for Real Madrid.
Update:
There is so much talent in world football up front at the moment that we could go with five, but sticking to three we'll place Australian sensation Sam Kerr in the middle. She made her debut at 15, now has 80 caps and 36 goals for the Matildas. Such is her profile, she was named Young Australian of the Year in 2018.
Update:
The current Ballon d'Or holder is not at the World Cup due to a dispute with the Norway Football Federation but the 23-year-old Lyon striker is a phenomenal talent, banging in 193 goals in 165 games in five seasons in France.
Update:
If Florentino was going to go all-out Galáctico, he would have to make an attempt to sign Morgan, arguably the most recognisable face in the sport and the scorer of 106 international goals. She's free from October to April as well, when the NWSL is inactive and has played on loan in Lyon - and flirted previously with Barça.
