The Norweigan left Leverkusen on Thursday and flew to Bilbao, where he went straight to San Sebastián, to visit with Real Sociedad and talk about a deal.
Real Sociedad are studying the possibility of a loan deal for Martin Odegaard, the promising young attacker who hasn't quite developed as Real Madrid might have liked since landing at the club.
Bayer Leverkusen are monitoring the Norweigan but no deal has been signed. Meanwhile, La Real appeared on the scene in an effort to sign the player. A deal seems complicated but there is a possibility and the 20-year-old was in San Sebastián on Friday to visit with the club.
Bjørn Tore Kvarme, his agent and a former Real Sociedad player, called Roberto Olabe, who just happened to be the same man who brought the former defender to the club from Liverpool. He asked about the possibility of a deal and Olabe said he was interested. With permission from Real Madrid, Odegaard and his representatives spent Thursday in Leverkusen but the possiblity to remain in LaLiga and the reccomendation by Kvarme meant no deal was done as they flew to the north of Spain to discuss a deal.
Odegaard has two options: to play in LaLiga but at a more modest situation with no European football or to play at Bayer where they will play Champions League football. Real Sociedad do not want to contact Real Madrid until they know Odegaard has made up his mind but the deal at Bayer Leverkusen is just missing his signature. There are good relations between both and the decision now lies at the young attacker's feet.
