USA and Mexico with similar paths ahead of Gold Cup final
The Gold Cup Final is a couple of days away with the United States and Mexico going into the game following very similar results in the CONCACAF tournament.
All is set for Sunday's CONCACAF Gold Cup, which this year will be a clash of the Titans, as Mexico take on the United States at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The USMNT go into the final with a perfect record of five wins from tgheir five outings - winning all three group stage matches, the quarter final game against Curaçao and the semi-final against Jamaica.
Mexico meanwhile reached the final with a healthy balance of three wins and two draws; while they won all their group stage games, Tata Martino's team had to edge their quarter final meeting with Costa Rica from the penalty spot while the semi-final against Haiti was resolved in extra-time.
Goals scored and conceded
The Stars and Stripes reach the final with enviable figures - 15 goals in favour and just one against, conceded in the semi-final as opposed to Mexico, who have 14 goals in favour and four against.
Goals and assists leaders
Gyasi Zardes and Christian Pulisic are each on three goals as the top scorers of the United States while Raúl Jiménez is the leading scorer for Mexico with five goals.
Christian Pulisic is also the star assist maker for the American side with three total in the tournament. Andrés Guardado, Rodolfo Pizarro and Uriel Antuna sum two assists each.
Playing system
Gregg Berhalter has a solid system with players such as goalkeeper, Zack Steffen, left-back Tim Ream, and central defender Aaron Long. The middle field with Pulisic, Bradley, and McKennie, in a 4-3-3 system.
Gerardo 'Tata' Martino has also used a 4-3-3 system with a firm base, with Guillermo Ochoa in goal, Salcedo and Rodriguez in defence, Guardado, Álvarez and dos Santos in midfield with Jimenéz and Pizarro up front.
