Arturo Vidal: the heart-warming story behind this viral potrait

The heart-warming story behind a young boy’s portrait of Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has led to the drawing going viral on social media.

The boy from Chile, who eagerly followed Vidal and Co. at the recent Copa América, was given the official sticker album of the tournament -- a treat for any avid young football fan.

But unfortunately because of the family’s difficult economic situation, his mother told him that she could not afford to buy him the stickers to fill the album.

The young boy understood the situation and decided to make his own stickers, with his representation of Vidal bringing his mother to tears.

“My little boy was given a football album and asked if I could buy the stickers. I explained that I was unemployed, there were expenses [and] that I couldn’t and being so adorable, he didn’t insist, today I find this, I want to cry!” posted Twitter user ‘Carolina’, accompanied with a photo of the Vidal drawing.

The post, which has garnered over 7,400 likes and 1,800 shares since it was published yesterday, has touched many who have seen it, including Vidal’s former Chile team mate Luis Marín, who wrote a message to ‘Carolina’, promising to send her son the album filled with all of the stickers.

Even Vidal himself has responded to the youngster, taking to Twitter to thank him for his portrait. “Thanks Ignacio buddy for drawing me! You’re a crack! Dreams do come true. I hope we get to meet," tweeted the Barcelona midfielder.
