Manchester City name 26-man squad for Far East tour

The Manchester City squad, with 12 youth team players, were due to fly out to Shanghai this evening but their flight has been rearranged for tomorrow.

Pep Guardiola has named a travelling party of 26 players for Manchester City’s tour of the Far East which will take in China and Japan. The City expedition was due to set off for Shanghai from Manchester airport this evening but their flight was cancelled due to an administrative problem. The squad’s flight has been rescheduled for tomorrow.

Guardiola will be taking 12 academy players on the Far East tour, including goalkeepers Daniel Grimshaw and Gavin Bazunu; other youth team players making the trip include Nabil Touaizi, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Iker Pozo, Tommy Doyle, Adrián Bernabé and Ben Knight. Phil Foden who has been on duty with England’s Under-21s at last month's Euros will be joining up with the squad in Hong Kong for the friendly against Kitchee FC on 24 July.

Recent arrival Rodri is in the squad and so is returnee Angeliño is back on board after completing just one season with PSV Eindhoven. Several City first team players are still on holiday - Sergio Agüero, Gabriel Jesus, Fernandinho and Ederson were all involved in the recent Copa América while Riyad Mahrez is with Algeria’s national team and focusing on tomorrow’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final date with Nigeria.
