Christian Pulisic will join up with Chelsea this week
The American winger is to join up with the Premier League side on Tuesday, in time for the Blues' pre-season tour to Japan.
Christian Pulisic's intentions to cut short his summer break were known when the American youngster was on international duty with the US men's national team at the CONCACAF Gold Cup, as reported by the Evening Standard.
It was presumed the new Chelsea player wanted to be with the Blues in time for the pre-season tour to Japan, and according to The Telegraph, Pulisic indeed will fly out to the Asian country this week, joined by Willian, who was also on international duty with Brazil at the Copa América.
It's yet to be seen when Chelsea's new head coach, Frank Lampard, will start Pulisic in a pre-season match, which will likely be against Kawasaki Frontale next Friday, July 19, but it could also be against FC Barcelona on Tuesday, July 23.
Great expectations
Pulisic has a lot of expectations on him ahead of his new chapter at the Premier League as he has had significant development this summer with the USMNT, leading them to the Gold Cup final. US coach Gregg Berhalter has said that, along with Weston McKennie, he showed the most progress of anybody in the American team.
