The big day arrived, and Christian Pulisic made his long-awaited debut in a Chelsea top, a game in which the West London team went down against Kawazaki Frontale in a friendly match played in Japan during the Blues' pre-season tour.

Pulisic entered the fray on the 65th minute, replacing Mason Mount, before the Japanese side scored their winner.

The US international will look for more minutes in Frank Lampard's team during the rest of the pre-season tour, in which Chelsea still have games against FC Barcelona, Reading, SC Freiburg, and Borussia Monchengladbach, ahead of the start of the Premier League.

Chelsea's official Twitter account shared a video in which Pulisic talked about his appearance, saying that he was thrilled to have played his first few minutes with Chelsea, although he had clearly wanted to leave the game with a win. He also talked about working with Frank Lampard.

Lampard highlights Pulisic's work

After the loss against Kawazaki Frontale, new Chelsea manager Frank Lampard highlighted Christian Pulisic's work stating that he was pleased with the way the American winger had trained and worked, and was happy to have him in his squad.

"He wants to try to take people on, the sort of player the fans are going to like so we have to give him a little bit of time to adapt slightly. But the way he has trained, the way he has come in with his personality looks great, so I am really pleased to have him," said the English coach.
