Eriksen: both Real Madrid and Man United remain in the hunt
Real Madrid have informed Eriksen that he remains an alternative to Paul Pogba, while United are understood to be close to agreeing terms with the Danish midfielder.
While Real Madrid will continue to push for Paul Pogba, the club is also keeping tabs on possible alternatives, and one player that is high on the list is Christian Eriksen.
AS has learned that the Bernabéu has maintained regular contact with Eriksen’s camp, whom the club informed last week that the Spurs midfielder remains on the club’s list of possible reinforcements.
But while Madrid has focused its efforts on Pogba, it has lost ground to Manchester United in the race to sign Eriksen. The Dane has been high on United’s agenda since the end of March, when coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer put this name on the table in one of his first meetings with the Old Trafford hierarchy surrounding planning for the upcoming season.
The Red Devils have accelerated talks with Eriksen in the past few days, proposing a five-year deal and salary close to that of Pogba. The Danish midfielder is understood to be seriously considering accepting the offer, convinced that United would build a project around him.

Meanwhile, there's reportedly a huge offer for Christian Eriksen on the table.

Eriksen and Van de Beek together cheaper than Pogba
But Eriksen's dream remains to play for Real Madrid, with whom he had already made a verbal agreement a few months back. The 27-year-old’s contract ends in 2020 and he has no intentions to renew his deal with Tottenham.
If Madrid do not manage to close a deal for Pogba, Eriksen’s signing would become very feasible, along with that of Donny van de Beek, who has also been identified as an alternative to the United midfielder.
In fact both players could be picked up for a total fee considerably less than the reported 170 million euros that United are demanding for Pogba. Spurs would demand 60 million for Eriksen from prospective buyers in the Premier League, but could be willing to reduce that figure to 50 million euros for a club outside of England; while the Ajax midfielder could be picked up for somewhere between 50 and 60 million euros.
