"With Neymar and Hazard, Madrid will win the Champions League"
In an interivew with Super Deportivo, Georghi Hagi weighed in on the Neymar situation and was also asked about the eternal Ronaldo-Messi debate.
Ex-Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder, Georghi Hagi has become the latest former player to give his opinion on the Neymar saga.
Neymar looks set to make his exit from PSG, with LaLiga rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona understood to be in a battle to land the Brazilian striker.
Madrid have already added one superstar to their squad this season in the form of Belgium’s Eden Hazard, who made the switch from Chelsea for 100 million euros in June.
And in an interview with Argentinean outlet Super Deportivo, Romanian legend Hagi said he is convinced that Madrid will go on two win their fourteenth Champions League title this season if they manage to land another Galáctico in Neymar.
"They can win easier, without a doubt. If they sign Neymar and with Hazard’s signing, they will win the Champions League again," said the former Romania international.
“Then Zidane will have to find his place for each one, but that’s the best thing that can happen to a coach. You just have to motivate him”.
Neymar would do well for any team - Hagi
Hagi, who earned the nickname Maradona of the Carpathians in his playing days, believes that Neymar is a "top player, despite the fact that he is not very well at the moment".
“There are times when he is good and sometimes not, like now when he is a little clueless, but it doesn’t matter,” he said. “The value of the player is the same. He is a player who would do well for any team in the world.”
Hagi on Messi or Ronaldo
The 54-year-old was also asked about the age-old debate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, confessing that he favours the Argentina and Barcelona striker, purely because they share the same trait of being left footed.
"I would love to be [Ronaldo’s] coach, but I confess that I choose Messi because I have a small weakness for him being left-footed. I was a left-footed footballer myself. I can't choose another one, it's my style,” said the Galatasaray legend.
