Galaxy's road onto semifinals wasn't an easy one, as the squad from Los Angeles went all the way to the penalty shoot out. Barros Schelotto's has mentioned this tournament is of little value, so he'll probably use an alternate team as he did against Tijuana.

It wasn't hard for the Mexican side to prevail in quarterfinals against Chicago Fire, as they beat the MLS team in regular time. Both goals that gave Pedro Caixinha the semifinal ticket, were scored by Roberto Alvarado and Elias Hernandez.
In the first Leagues Cup edition, Cruz Azul and LA Galaxy got their ticket for the semifinal match, and are now one step closer of reaching the Grand Final of the tournament that mixes the MLS and Liga MX.
