Pulisic considering loan exit from Chelsea - reports
The U.S. international has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since making the 64-million-euro switch from Dormtund in the summer.
Out-of-favour midfielder Christian Pulisic is ready to consider a loan exit from Chelsea in January, according to reports in the UK.
After making the 64-million-euro ($73m) move from Borrussia Dortmund this summer, Pulisic has struggled to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, with some commentators questioning whether he is the right fit for the London club.
The 21-year-old winger has found himself consigned to a reserve role under coach Frank Lampard, for whom he has been an unused substitute in three of Chelsea's last four Premier League fixtures, with a 10-minute cameo against Southamton on Sunday his only league appearence since August.
He was also ommitted from the squad for the latest Champions League fixture against Lille on Wednesday and was left on the bench against Valencia two weeks prior.
In light of his situation at Chelsea -- where he has apparently fallen behind the likes of Pedro, Willian, Mason Mount and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the pecking order -- Pulisic is now ready to consider asking the club to let him leave on loan in January, according to UK reports.
The ex-Dortmund star reportedly wants to stay and fight for his place but is open to considering other options if he feels he is not given the opportunity to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.
Pulisic receives backing from Azpilicueta and Lampard
Amid concerns over his situation at Chelsea, the US international has received the backing of both Lampard and club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, both of whom have stressed that the young winger needs time to adapt.
"He is working hard and sometimes we know that the manager has to make decisions but I see him working hard in training. From here all I can say is to encourage him to keep working because we know that a new country, a new team, a bit of time of adaptation,” said Azpilicueta, after Pulisic was left out the squad for the Champions League tie against Lille on Wednesday.
“I see him with a character and working hard in training and hopefully, and I’m sure he will be very important for us for the season.”
And while the club coach and captain are appealing for patience, it seems the patience of Pulisic himself could be wearing thin, if the UK reports are correct.
