EURO 2020 | NORWAY - SPAIN

Norway, unbeaten at home in their last 13 games

Spain and Norway have met seven times in the past with a balance of five Spanish wins, one draw and one win for the Scandinavians.

José Molina, portero del Atlético de Madrid, jugó como extremo izquierdo con la Selección española en Noruega en 1995.

Victory in Oslo tonight would mathematically ensure Spain their place at next year's Euro 2020 tournament - regardless of results elsewhere in Group F. A draw might even be enough for La Roja if Sweden don't beat Malta and Romania fail to win their meeting with the Faroe Islands. If at all turned out differently this evening, Spain will need to wait until Matchday 8 (Group F are in action on Tuesday) to book their ticket.

Spain haven't missed the final stage of the Euros since the 1992 edition which was held in Sweden - three other countries have an identical run in the competition - Czech Republic, Italy and Portugal. Only Germany (who haven't missed a tournament since 1972) and France have consecutively taken part in more tournaments than Spain. De esas seis selecciones, sólo los checos corren un peligro real de quedarse fuera de la cita del próximo verano (pelean por la segunda plaza con Kosovo y no tienen la repesca asegurada).

Spain vs Norway: previous meetings

Spain and Norway have met seven times in the past with a balance of five Spanish wins, one draw and one win for the Scandinavians. (Spain lost the opening group game at Euro 2000 0-1 in Rotterdam in June 2000). La Roja have won the last three meetings  - 2-1 en 2003; 0-3 in 2003 and 2-1 at Mestalla in March this year.

Norway have lost only two of their last 16 games (1-0 to Bulgaria in the Nations League and 2-1 to Spain in Valencia in March on Matchday 1); they've gained 10 victories and four draws in the 14 remaining outings. At home, Norway are unbeaten in their last 13 games (nine wins and four draws).

Sergio Ramos and Dani Ceballos in Oslo

Sergio Ramos will overtake Iker Casillas to become the players to have made the most appearances for Spain (168). He will also become the second European player to have represented their national team the most times after Gianluigi Buffon, who was capped 176 times by Italy. The world record is held by Ahmed Hassan, who made 184 appearances for Egypt. Ramos made his senior debut for Spain aged 18 years and 361 days, in a friendly against China in March 2005 when Luis Aragonés was at the helm.
