Sick Emiliano Sala image under investigation by police
An image posted on social media on Friday evening related to the late footballer is being investigated. Cardiff City and rivals Swansea City play this weekend.
Ahead of the South Wales derby between Cardiff City and rivals Swansea City at midday on Sunday, an image was circulated on social media relating to Emiliano Sala. The late footballer was killed in a tragic plane accident in January shortly after signing with the Bluebirds.
Sick Sala image under investigation
The image that was believed to have been first posted on Friday evening showed a mocked-up boarding pass with the deceased player's name on it. Welsh police have asked fans not to share the image saying that they could be in trouble themselves for doing so.
"We are aware and have reviewed an image on social media relating to Emiliano Sala and we are investigating in relation to an offence under the Malicious Communications Act.
"We will be working closely with both Swansea City and Cardiff City football clubs to identify the source. We would remind people not to share the image as they may be committing an offence.
Both clubs and fan groups have been quick to condemn the image and are working with police to aid their investigation.
