On the 25th anniversary of Raúl's Real Madrid debut, current coach Zinedine Zidane has backed the Castilla boss for promotion to the top job.

Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has tipped fellow club legend Raúl González Blanco to follow him into the Bernabéu hotseat in the future.

"I'm sure Raúl will coach Real Madrid one day"

Speaking on the 25th anniversary of Raúl's Madrid debut, Zidane said: "That it's been 25 years since his first appearance means we're all getting on a little.

"I played alongside him and he was an important player for this great clubI'm sure he'll coach Real Madrid one day."

Raúl appointed as Castilla coach in the summer

Raúl, who scored 325 goals in 741 appearances for Madrid between 1994 and 2010, was appointed as coach of the LaLiga giants' Under-15s in 2018, before taking over as boss of the club's 'B' team, Real Madrid Castilla, in the summer.

Following a 2-1 defeat to Racing Ferrol on Saturday, Raúl's Castilla side currently sit seventh in Group 1 of Segunda División B, Spain's regionalised third tier.
