Real Madrid, currently sixth in the table, host bottom club Leganés on Wednesday 30 October in LaLiga's matchday 11, with the game at the Bernabéu kicking off at 21:15.
Real Madrid's last game was against Galatasaray
Real Madrid come into the match rested, after Saturday's Clásico was postponed due to civil unrest in Barcelona. (It'll be replayed on 18 December, legal challenges notwithstanding).
Leganés meanwhile head to Bernabéu on the back of their first win of the season, a 1-0 victory over Mallorca, recorded under new, provisional-for-now, coach Luis Cembranos. Previous coach Mauricio Pellegrino resigned due to Leganés' shocking start to the season, harvesting two draws and seven defeats from their first nine matches. The match against Mallorca was the first game this season Leganés managed to avoid conceding a goal.
Vinicius out, Bale still injured
Zinedine Zidane has left Vinicius out of his squad for the match, along with Brahim Díaz and Mariano Díaz, also missing is Gareth Bale, who is said to be injured, though has refused Madrid permission to publish his medical reports. The Welshman has been the centre of controversy this week after missing training to head to London for an unexplained meeting, and although Zidane said the player had permission to go, Real Madrid fans were disappointed at his attitude.
Also missing for Madrid are Álvaro Odriozola (suspended) and James Rodríguez who is in Colombia for the birth of his child.
Zidane can count on Brazilian Rodrygo Goes, who started and played well in the Champions League against Galatasaray, and Luka Modric and Lucas Vázquez who are fit again.
Leganés hoping for Real Madrid upset
New Leganés coach Cembranos talked ahead of the game and said it was vital for Leganés to show they aren't "the worst" team in the Spanish top flight, and confessed that after their win over Mallorca the team was in good spirits and were aiming to cause an upset against their illustrious neighbours. Defender Dimitris Siovas is a doubt, while Saturday's goal hero Martin Braithwaite will be fit to start.
It should be a pretty pleasant evening for football in the Spanish capital on Wednesday night, with the temperature at the start of the match around 16 degrees, and although there is a slight chance of some showers any rain that does fall is likely to be light. There won't be a great Spanish moon hanging over the match, it's a feeble crescent right now and sets at 20:11 anyway, before the game starts.
