Real Madrid: Rodrygo announces himself in style
The Brazilian has announced himself in spectacular fashion at Real Madrid with a goal on his debut after 95 seconds and another against Leganés.
Rodrygo is no longer just potential, he's a reality. The Brazilian has grown at Real Madrid since joining in the summer and taken every opportunity afforded to him. At 18, it hasn't taken many of those opportunities to convince Zidane that he is already starting material. He got his first ever start for Real Madrid against Galatasaray and then repeated that with a spot in the starting XI against Leganés. He doesn't tend to take long to convince the fans either, scoring off the bench against Osasuna and then taking just six minutes to net against Leganés on Wednesday night.
The attacker arrived at the Bernabéu with self-confidence and personality. With Real Madrid left searching for goals since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, Rodrygo has helped. He has two in 215 minutes of football and has needed just three shots on goal to score them.
Although the comparisons are tedious, they are unavoidable as he battles with Vinicius for time on the field. Vinicius hasn't been able to match him though as Rodrygo is winning the fight at Madrid and with the Brazil national team. According to Opta, Vinicius needed 24 shots to score his first two goals in LaLiga. Rodrygo, who is better in all of the staistics, only needed three efforts. He will also debut with Brazil soon as Tite has called him up for the next round of international games as an alternative to Vinicius.

Versatile Rodrygo has no problem where Zidane plays him
"I have no preference," says Rodrygo, who is versatile and willing to play anywhere. "I started on the right and during the game, he changed me with Hazard. Wherever they put me, I'll play and enjoy it." Vinicius, who prefers to play on the left, has Hazard ahead of him with Zidane even admitting that he has it much more difficult this year with the galactico playing in his position.
Words come as easy to Rodrygo as goals do. He shows that with perfected Spanish in conversation after games. It's something he focused on during the year after he signed with the club but remained in Brazil on loan with Santos. It was also evident during his presentation when he spoke Spanish without the need for a translator. A statement of intent. The same thing he did when he started against Bayern in preseason and scored. It was a sign of things to come.
