After being announced as the new Tottenham manager earlier this week, Jose Mourinho is already looking towards the winter transfer window for squad reinforcements.

And one of the players apparently high on the Portuguese coach’s list is none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

According to La Reppública newspaper, Mourinho has already been in contact with the Swedish striker to speak about the possibility of a move to the North London club.

The 38-year-old forward has recently ended his time with LA Galaxy and is expected to be back playing for a European club in the New Year.

Up to this point, all indications were that he was bound for Serie A, where Napoli, AC Milan and Bologna have all been linked with the former Manchester United player. In October Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti had stated that the club were “waiting for him”, while Zlatan himself revealed a desire to play at San Paolo Stadium to emulate the success of Diego Maradona.

Zlatan could be tempted by Mourinho reunion at Spurs

However if the La Reppública report is to be believed, the big Swede may be tempted by the opportunity to reunite with Mourinho, with whom he has previously worked at Inter Milan and Manchester United.

During their two seasons together at Inter, the pair won the Champions League in 2010 and formed a strong bond, with Ibrahimovic admitting that he “was willing to die for” Mourinho in his new autobiography.

Mourinho got his Spurs career off to a winning start on Saturday, overseeing a 3-2 victory at West Ham, which was first time the club has picked up three points on the road since January.
