Real Madrid made contact with Sadio Mané's agent - reports
According to Le10Sport, Real Madrid are interested in the Liverpool forward. His contract will expire in 2023 but he is expected to renew with the Reds.
Real Madrid are reported to have made contact with Sadio Mané's agent Bjorn Bezemer, according to French outlet Le10Sport, who go onto add that luring the Senegalese forward away from Anfield would be a costly operation as the player is has another two and a half years to run on his contract. According to Transfermarkt, Mané, whose contract expires in June 2023, is valued at 150 million euros. Le10Sport report that Madrid see Mané, who came fourth in this year's Ballon d'Or as the prefect replacement for Gareth Bale, who could leave the club this summer.
Madrid sound out the situation
Madrid's interest in Mané isn't new - Zidane is a big fan of the player. Little under a year ago the club put the feelers out to try to gauge whether Mané might be looking to move on and whether a deal could be feasible. That interest cooled in May when Mané gave an interview to the club's official magazine, saying that he is very happy at Anfield and keen to write history with Jürgen Klopp's team. Nor is he a player who is motivated by wealth - Mané dedicates part of his salary to social projects back home in Senegal.
Mané would have to be mad to want to leave Klopp's 'maschine'
Since then, Liverpool have been crowned European and world champions and are in the best position they've ever been in to win the Premier League for the first time. It would be exceedingly unlikely that any of Klopp's star players would want to leave such a set-up - a well-built side that is reaping success after success.
According to Klopp's agent Marc Kosicke, Mané is more likely to negotiate new terms with Liverpool than move elsewhere. Kosicke told German website Sport1 last week: "Liverpool are planning for the future, it is currently positioning itself in the long term. It’s also about planning security. Players like Mané, Van Dijk, Salah.. will extend their contracts if they haven't already. And of course, the manager has a major role too. Jürgen loves this club and at the moment I don’t know what would be better for him - and he doesn’t know either".
