Real Madrid's Rodrygo Goes behaved "like a brat" as he was sent off while in action for Castilla on Sunday, says San Sebastián de los Reyes goalkeeper Xabi Irureta.

Rodrygo banned for Clásico after Castilla red card

In his first appearance for Madrid's 'B' team since September, Rodrygo scored in a 2-0 Segunda División B win but was shown a second yellow card for squaring up to Irureta as he celebrated his 87th-minute goal.

As his suspension for the dismissal also applies to Madrid's first team, the 18-year-old will be unavailable for next Sunday's Clásico clash with Barcelona.

Rodrygo "has a lot to learn about respect", says Irureta

Speaking post-match, Irureta said Rodrygo took excessive umbrage to his complaints that Castilla should have stopped play after a San Sebastián de los Reyes team-mate was hurt in the build-up to the goal.

"The move started with an unintentional elbow [on a San Sebastián de los Reyes player]," the former Eibar keeper told Spanish radio station Cadena SER. "We'd all seen it, and [I asked him] why he had played on instead of putting the ball out.

"He reacted a bit... like a brat, I'd say. He has a lot to learn about respect. I wasn't at all disagreeable with him about it, and he started acting like that."

January recruit Reinier provides assist on Castilla bow

Earlier, Madrid's 30-million-euro signing Reinier Jesus had set up Álvaro Fidalgo's first-half opener on his debut for Castilla, as Raúl González Blanco's seventh-placed side won their third straight home game in Segunda B.
