The third round continued with a lot of developmental talent taken. QBs Jake Fromm, Jacob Eason were not taken on the second day of the draft and are the big names heading into day 3 on Saturday.

Here is a look at every pick from the 3rd round of the NFL Draft.

2020 NFL Draft first round summary: Burrow the opening pick as quarterbacks dominate

LSU's Joe Burrow, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday, topped a first round that was heavy on quarterbacks.

The first six picks included three QBs - Burrow, Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa and Oregon's Justin Herbert -- and the Green Bay Packers got one, too, in potential Aaron Rodgers successor Jordan Love.

Burrow went 15-0 and won the national championship with the Tigers. Now he gets a shot at turning around the Cincinnati Bengals, who went 2-14 and haven't won a playoff game in three decades.

"I worked really hard to get here," said Burrow, wearing a 740 area code shirt to represent his home area of southeast Ohio.

Commissioner Roger Goodell made the official announcement from his basement to kick off the virtual NFL draft with Burrow getting word from his parents' home in The Plains, Ohio.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said the team didn't consider any trade overtures and the franchise was in agreement on Burrow early in the process.

Taylor said on Thursday via teleconference that Burrow took complete ownership of the offense at LSU and he's the "total package".

"There's a lot of things tangibly and intangibly that he brings to the table," Taylor said. "You see it with your own eyes - ability, leadership, he's the total package."

The Ohio State transfer and Heisman Trophy winner had an FBS-record 60 TD passes last season. He became the third player in three years to claim that trophy and emerge as the No. 1 pick in the ensuing draft, following Oklahoma quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray.

That's it from the NFL Draft 2020 first round!

That’s it from what was supposed to be Las Vegas. It turned out that we spent the whole evening online and it was quite fun.

Joe Burrow went number one as expected and Chase Young was second. We saw some controversy at 26 with the Packers picking Aaron Rodgers’ successor and there were a number of trades aside from that.

32. Chiefs

The SuperBowl winners wrap things up for us tonight and select Clyde Edwards Helaire. He is the first RB to go too in a league that is becoming less reliant on them. There were two running backs expected to go ahead of him but the Chiefs give Mahomes some help out of the back field.

31. Vikings

Mike Zimmer gets a physical CB in Jeff Gladney. They picked a wider receiver earlier in the 1st round and now go with the other side of the ball with their last pick tonight.

30. Dolphins

Noah Igbinoghene is the Dolphins last pick of the NFL Draft 2020 first round. He is of Nigerian descent and his parents were both top class athletes. Dolphins trying to get more Patriots-y?

29th. Titans

The Titans were a surprise package last season and almost made it to the SuperBowl. They had the Chiefs on the ropes too thanks to Derrick Henry. They've just picked a linesman in Isaiah Wilson to help Henry dominate even more.

28. Ravens

The Ravens have picked Patrick Queen in what is called "one of the best picks of the night" on Bleacher Report.

The linebackers' report on NFL:

While other Tigers received more attention, Queen has some of the most eye-opening tape of the bunch. He plays fast, physical and with impressive field confidence for a one-year starter. His ability to diagnose and flow are both very rapid, and he operates with excellent body control and balance to gobble up runners as an open-field tackler. His inexperience will show itself in taking on blocks and finding optimal pursuit angles, but that will get cleaned up in time. Queen is next up from LSU's linebacker factory, possessing the same three-down ability to hunt, cover and tackle as those before him. He's an early starter with a sky-high ceiling.

27. Seahawks

Bobby Wagner was a Texas Tech linebacker and so was Jordyn Brooks and now they are both Seattle Seahawks.

26. Packers

History repeats itself. The Packers have picked Jordan Love as a back-up to Aaron Rodgers. Instead of helping him out with WRs or offensive line help, they picked his heir. They did the same with Rodgers when Favre was finishing up. Interesting pick.

25. 49ers

The 49ers and John Lynch were criticised for going with defence with their earlier pick when they had such a glaring need at WR. They've rectified that now with Brandon Aiyuk at 25.

TRADE ALERT!

The Vikings have traded their pick to the 49ers. Let's see who the 49ers are interested here.

24. Saints

Drew Brees has one more year in New Orleans and the Saints at Ruiz to protect him and help him read defences.

23. Chargers

The Chargers traded up to get the best linebacker in the draft. Kenneth Murray is going to Los Angeles.

TRADE ALERT!

The Patriots have traded their pick to the Chargers.

Chargers will pick at 23 and the Patriots are out of the first round. Chargers back in.

22. Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings have picked Justin Jefferson with the 22nd pick in the draft. He should have probably gone to the Eagles but he is going to the NFC, just a little further North. They replace Stefon Diggs with Jefferson.

21. Eagles

Jalen Reagor is the Eagles first pick. A strange pick as he was number 50 on Matt Miller's big board. Justin Jefferson remains on the board.

20. Jaguars

After picking C.J Henderson, the Jaguars have picked Chaisson, the EDGE rusher from LSU.

"When you hire somebody, do you want to hire someone who speaks one language? Or do you want to hire somebody that speaks three languages? I speak three languages," Chaisson said. "I can pass rush, drop in coverage and cover anybody you want me to cover, and I can play the run. No offensive lineman will ever just move me off the ball and bully me," was Chaisson's comment before the draft.

19. Raiders

Mayock throws a little bit of a spanner in the works. Arnette, CB, from Ohio State goes to the Raiders. Meanwhile, Las Vegas will host the 2022 draft too after losing this year's event.

18. Dolphins

After picking Tua with number 5, the Dolphins pick again and got for Austin Jackson as the man to protect him. The 20-year-old donated bone marrow to his sister to save her life before the season. A pretty extraordinary story and he deserves this.

17. Cowboys

The Cowboys pick CeeDee Lamb as he joins Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup in what is a pretty terrifying group of receivers.

Belichick's living room could not be any more normal.

Jerry Jones on the clock. The Cowboys are up.

16. Falcons

Falcons address a need. We knew there were a lot of good CBs in the first round and the Falcons pick the second player at that position.  A.J Terrell is the pick. He had a 29-1 record at Clemson as a starter.

15. Denver Broncos

There we go. Jerry Jeudy is gone to the Broncos. John Elway gives his QB some help. They had break-out start Courtland Sutton but now they have a really good WR in the mould of Odell Beckham Jnr.

These are the two players we have to keep an eye on. Two wide receivers and everyone thought they'd be gone at this point. Jeudy as high as number 6 in some experts' mock drafts.

14. 49ers

John Lynch, the legendary defender, picks a defender! Javon Kinlaw is the man. The defensive lineman goes before what are glaring needs for the 49ers at wide receiver.

14. 49ers

Official Trade Details between Bucs and 49ers

We have a trade. The Bucs have traded up with San Francisco and it looks like it might be the OL. If you go to the effort to get Tom Brady, you do what you can to protect and, maybe more importantly, feel important. Bucs have given up a 4th round pick.

12. Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders pick WR Henry Ruggs from Alabama. Gruden gets himself a speedster who had 24 touchdowns last season. Miller from BR had him as number 11. Let's see how good Derek Carr really is next season. Last summer, we had the Antonio Brown controversy but Raiders hoping they can get someone to come in and contribute straight away.

11. New York Jets

New York Jets pick Mekhi Becton, OL, from Louisville

10. Browns

Jedrick Wills, OL from Alabama goes to Cleveland. All the hype last season and then the Browns collapsed last season but Baker Mayfield will be better for it and he has a stud offensive lineman to help him now too.

9. Jaguars

Pick 9 - Jacksonville Jaguars select CB C.J Henderson from Florida.

8. Cardinals

The Cardinals have selected Isaiah Simmons, LB from Clemson. SEC Defensive Player of the Year and one of the best players in the draft. He plays all over the field; safety, CB, LB, in the slot. Impressive.

ESPN had Simmons as the best available and they have Jerry Jeudy as the best fit. Cardinals went for best available.

Matt Miller gives it an A grade on Bleacher Report.

7. Panthers

The Panthers have picked Derrick Brown. They lost Ron Rivera and a lot of players on D but now they get Brown to help alleviate some of the consequences of those losses. Athletic player who can play in a few different looks.

This is the SCOOP for number seven.

6. Chargers

Justin Herbert will replace Rivers as the Chargers QB. He is the third- best QB in the draft but they've probably reached here. They could have traded back but we know that is always a risk.

The issues stemming from his hip are a concern but his doctor says he is good to go. It's the most famous hip in the world, at least the most talked about. Trent Dilfer says he is "the single best prospect I have ever been around, I have ever studied.”

Tua Tagovailoa

There we go! Tua Tagovailoa goes to the Dolphins and everyone loves the pick!

5. Dolphins

There we go! Tua Tagovailoa goes to the Dolphins and everyone loves the pick!

4. Giants

The Giants are on the clock and will pick soon. They need an OT after Eli Manning was replaced by Daniel Jones last season. He is their franchise quarterback and they need to look after him. Big, big chance to do that with this number 4 pick.

The Giants pick is in! Joe Judge's first pick as the Head Coach of the Giants is Andrew Thomas. I think that's the first surprise as some places had him outside of the top 10 but it helps the Giants to keep Jones upright and to create holes up front.

3. Lions

It looks like the Lions WILL pick at number three despite talks ramping up recently over a potential trade.

Jeff Okudah goes to the Lions. He is the best cornerback in the draft and goes three. We are talking Jalen Ramsey good.

Bob Quinn, the Lions' executive the man on the phone calling that one in. You won't find many saying that's not a really solid selection.

2. Redskins

Chase Young goes to the Redskins. "Absolutely special," is how he is described and they are saying he could be one of the best ever at the edge. Plenty of people saying Ron Rivera is going to change the entire culture at the Redskins after coming in there this off-season. He has a player to build his defense around now.

Now things get interesting. We kind of knew this is how it would go. Number 3 through 6 could be mayhem.

1. Bengals

As expected, the Bengals have gone for Joe Burrow with the number one pick. Burrow puts on the Bengals cap at his home and gives a hug to his mother and father.

For anyone who watches the draft, you'll know that it's tradition to boo the commissioner when he walks onto the stage. Budweiser have turned it into a marketing opportunity with a #boothecommish hashtag on NFL Network.

Interesting to look back at earlier mock drafts. Here is SI's one a long while back. Burrow isn't even in the top 10.

Ian Rapoport, NFL insider, says the Redskins are not expected to trade out of number 2. There is talk going on between the Lions and the Dolphins and possibly the Jaguars too. It feels like the 3rd pick is when it will kick off. "Talks have increased over the last 24 hours," he said about the 3rd pick.

Ryan Leaf says he has spoken to 'receptive' Burrow

Ryan Leaf, the former number 2 overall pick says he had a chat to Joe Burrow ahead of the draft. "I got an opportunity to spend the day with Joe down in Orange County (California) before all of this quarantine and everything took place," he said. "I've been with a lot of quarterbacks and I can tell you this ... there's a certain level of quarterback that understands they want to learn from everybody and everything, from people who have been there, who have not necessarily been successful, who have been successful reach out to them."

We have been focusing mostly on the first 6 picks with everyone waiting to see what the Chargers do but the Panthers pick in 7th. Here's a look at their needs.

As the league has turned more pass-heavy, we are lucky to have so many wide receivers that could go in the first round. Dane Brugler has as many as six that could be wedged into the first round.

First round talent WRs:

1. CEEDEE LAMB

2. JERRY JEUDY

3. HENRY RUGGS III

4. JUSTIN JEFFERSON

5. BRANDON AIYUK

6. DENZEL MIMS

Bengals' QB luck

The last two QBs the Bengals took in the first round were Carson Palmer and Akili Smith; two players with wildly different trajectories. Palmer ended up saying he would rather retire than continue playing with the Bengals and he ended up at the Raiders shortly afterwards. He was so good though and I often wonder what might have been if he hadn't hurt his knee in that play-off game against the Steelers.

NFL Draft podcast

I was searching for a podcast on Spotify for a draft podcast and someone has put together an NFL Draft 2020 playlist, if that's what you're into.

The issue with Tua seems to be his injury history and he remains the big question mark in this draft. Man think he will be the second QB off the board but his injuries -- finger, ankle, quad, knee, hip -- have left some doubt. The Dolphins and the Lions are currently talking about a trade which would see the Dolphins move up two to 3rd. That might mean they want Tua but if they don't take him and then neither do the Chargers at 6, he could do an Aaron Rodgers and falls into the middle of the round.

A timeline of Tua Tagovailoa's injuries

Todd McShay suffering from coronavirus

One of ESPN's top draft analysts will miss the event this year due to coronavirus. He released this note earlier.

If you have time to squeeze in another podcast before the draft, the guys at PFF Forecast do a good job of breaking things down and giving a good overview.

Chase Young

2nd pick controversy?

It seems there will be no controversy at number 2 either with Chase Young, the Ohio State edge rusher looking like he will go to the Washington Redskins. There has been talk that there will be a push to trade up for him so it might not be free of controversy but Burrow and Young are your one and two.

1st pick controversy?

There will be no controversy at number one. Joe Burrow is going to the Bengals. You're not allowed to laugh when you see him though.

Offseason moves

We have already had plenty of news this offseason with Tom Brady leaving the Patriots for the Bucs with Rob Gronkowski coming out of retirement recently to join him! Phillip Rivers left the Chargers after 15 years with the team. They are picking 6th and need a QB -- we will get into that later and whether they will move up or not.

The NFL Draft is usually when the offseason starts to take shape and when we can start to figure out which teams are rebuilding, in win-now more or, like some teams, getting set for another year of failure.

NFL Draft

This is a very interesting read from The Ringer's Bryan Curtis about how the quarantine has affected the whole thing and shines a light on the importance of the draft during the offseason.

Hello and welcome to the NFL Draft live on AS English!

You are watching history. The NFL Draft, which had become one of the biggest events in the NFL's calendar is not going ahead as planned in Las Vegas. Instead, I am watching Roger Goddell giving us a tour of his 'man cave' in the basement of his house. The coronavirus pandemic has brought the show to a halt, kind of, with large gatherings banned in the US.

Instead, the draft will be done via video and with a with several changes to the normal format. Read a complete 'how this is going to work' article here. It kicks off at 02:00 CEST on Friday 24 April 2020.
