President Donald Trump suggested that public schools in the country should reopen before the end of the academic year in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and also they released testing guidelines for the states. Private schools where not involved in this discussion because they can make their own decision regardless of what the Governor, mayor or president say.

The reasoning behind all of this is that Donald Trump said on Monday that many governors should reopen the public schools only because younger people seem to be less affected by Covid-19.

"I think you'll see a lot of schools open up, even if it's for a very short period of time," Trump said. "I think it would be a good thing."

Donald Trump’s suggestion doesn't go hand-by-hand with the White House guidelines for reopening the states because according to those rules re-opening schooled is not recommended until the second phase is in full effect, that is after some businesses have already reopened.

So far 43 out of the 50 states have ordered or recommended that schools remain closed for the rest of the academic year.

"Some of you might start thinking about school openings. Because a lot of people are wanting to have the school openings. It's not a big subject, young children have done very well in this disaster that we've all gone through," Trump said, according to ABC News.

During Monday’s briefing, the administration also released testing guidance for the states, which is broken down into eight steps.

1. Build the foundation for diagnostic testing.

2. Mobilize the private sector to develop tests.

3. Issue Emergency Use Authorizations for tests.

4. Galvanize commercial and research labs and professional associations to ramp up testing capacity.

5. Facilitate state efforts to access and utilize all available testing capacity.

6. Identify and expand public and private sector testing infrastructure.

7. Strengthen testing supply chain.

8. Coordinate with governors to support testing plans and rapid response programs.

So far in the United States the coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 57,000 Americans and the country has become the epicenter of the world with the most confirmed cases. So the sentiment amongst millions of Americans is to maintain school’s closed until the environment is safer for everyone.
