Xavi Hernandez, coach of Qatar's Al-Sadd SC, together with the team's players were invited to take an initiation tour of both Al-Rayyan and Education City stadiums. Al-Sadd are set to train at both venues ahead of the resumption of the domestic Qatar Stars League on 24 July. The league was forced to halt activity mid March as the Covid-19 pandemic swept through the world.

The Spanish coach along with his first team squad were highly impressed with the outstanding facilities at both Al-Rayyan and Education City stadiums with the newly inaugurated Education City ground set to hold the QSL round 17 contest between Al-Rayyan and Qatar SC.

Unlike Education City stadium, the Al-Rayyan venue has already been used as a training centre for league sides Al-Rayyan and AL-Duhail with Al-Rayyan the first team trained to have trained at the World Cup venue.

AFC Champions League

Xavi's Al-Sadd team have their own Jasem Bin Hamad stadium which is equipped with a cooling system and their ground will be one of the training centres at the 2022 World Cup venues. Many of the World Cup stadiums are candidates to host the AFC Champions League tournament this year as a solution given the current pandemic with both Al-Sadd and Al-Duhail Qatar's representatives in the Asian Football Federation's most prestigious domestic competition.
