The absence of seven time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson at this weekend's race in Indianapolis is the major talking point ahead of Sunday's action as Hendrick Motor-sports confirmed on Friday that the driver has tested positive with the Covid-19 virus and will now need to be placed in isolation.

Before racing again this season Johnson will need to receive special medical permission with replacement Justin Allgaier being drafted in to drive the No.48 Chevrolet for Sunday's race.

The NASCAR Cup series will be held without a practice round or qualifying as a Covid-19 precautionary measure with the line-up for the grid conducted by a draw in groups of team owner standings for Sunday's race ahead of the 400 laps of the circuit at Indianapolis.
